Q: What areas do you service?
A: Fancy Pawz offers regular service to a large portion of the Annapolis Valley, travelling West along the 101 Highway from Windsor through Wolfville, New Minas and Kentville and all the way to Greenwood/Kingston, and all surrounding communities. Please contact us if you are unsure. Fancy Pawz will also travel further (Halifax, Bridgewater, Annapolis Royal) if there are a group of dogs to be done on the same day. So, get your friends together and contact us for a Dog Day at the Spaw !!!
Q: How far in advance should I book my appointment?
A: At this time, we can often schedule your appointment for the same week, or the following week, however this can change quickly. To avoid disappointment, If you would like your pet groomed on a schedule, we highly recommend booking your appointment as far in advance as possible. For your convenience, if you would like your pet groomed on a schedule ranging from 1-12 weeks, we would be happy to book you a standing appointment day and time, so you can have a set grooming schedule on your calendar!
Q: How often should my pet be groomed?
A: This can depend on many factors, including breed, style and owner preference. To maintain optimal health for your pet, Fancy Pawz will discuss the length of time between appointments with you. This would normally range from 1-12 weeks. Please refer to our Price List for recommended grooming frequency by breed.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: Costs will depend on breed, size, condition of the dog etc.

Q: Is mobile grooming more expensive than taking my dog to a groomer?
A: Mobile Grooming is an enhanced service and you can expect to pay $15-$20 more than what a shop groomer will charge. This extra cost covers Fancy Pawz bringing our state of the art grooming salon to your doorstep, saving you 2 round trips to the groomer in your vehicle. Also, because we are only grooming your pet, the grooming will usually be completed in less than 1.5 hours. No more planning your day around a 4-6 hour grooming appointment. More importantly, mobile grooming is less stressful for you and your pet. No car rides, no exposure to pets you donít know and your pet will not wait his or her turn in a cage. While mobile grooming isnít for everyone, our clients find the cost of mobile a much better value than going to a groomer.
Q: Do I need to be home when you groom my pet?
A: For the first appointment, Yes. After this, we can arrange your grooming appointment while you are at work, on holidays, or out for a day with your family or friends.
Q: Do you need access to my electrical outlets or water hose?
A: Not at all! Fancy Pawz Mobile Pet Salon is fully self-contained. We are powered by a generator and carry fresh water on board. Because we are working with live animals, we like to be prepared for anything so we do have the ability to hook up to your electric and water in the unlikely event that we have generator trouble in the middle of a groom.
Q: I donít want my dog clipped short during the winter. Should I wait longer between appointments during the colder months?
A: Definitely Not!!! A longer coat length actually requires regular maintenance to keep your dog healthy and comfortable. If you are not prepared to properly brush your dog during these months, it is vital to keep him or her on a regular schedule with your groomer. A long coat is prone to matting, and a matted coat will offer your pet no protection against the cold winter weather. We will simply leave the coat longer as the winter months approach, but maintain a clean, dematted style, to keep your pet comfortable year round!
Q: I donít want my pet to look like ďBreedĒ Can you do this?
A: Absolutely! Fancy Pawz understands your pet is a part of your family. While our groomer is trained to groom to breed standard, we would be more than happy to adjust the style based on your individual tastes!
Q: What happens if my dog has fleas?
A: Fancy Pawz encourages all owners to have their pets on Flea and Tick prevention. Discuss with your veterinarian the appropriate medication for your pets. Please do not use any flea product unless it is provided by your veterinarian. Many over the counter products can be harmful, or fatal to your pet. You MUST tell us when booking an appointment if your dog has fleas. We will ask that you first treat your pet with a veterinarian flea control product. If we bring your dog into the salon and find live fleas, your dog will immediately be bathed with a flea shampoo, and you will be charged $15 in addition to the regular grooming cost to cover the expense and time of ridding the salon of fleas before we go to our next appointment.
Q: Could I bathe my dog myself before you arrive and have you do the clipping?
A: Fancy Pawz is not able to offer this type of service. We are very committed to the pets we groom looking their very best when they leave our salon. A proper bath and brush dry using our top of the line equipment and products is essential to the finished result.
Q: What happens if I forget my appointment, or need to cancel?
A: Fancy Pawz will call or email to remind you of your appointment 1-2 days prior. We do require if you need to cancel your appointment, that you give 24 hrs notice by email, phone or voice mail. Repeated failure to do so may result in a charge to you of $30 up to the cost of the grooming, to be paid before any new appointments are booked. If you do not call or email to cancel, and you are not home when we arrive, you will be assessed a charge of a minimum travel charge of $30 up to the cost of the grooming, to be paid before your next appointment is booked.
Q: What type of payments do you accept?
A: All grooming fees must be paid at the time of service by cash or cheque. A $40.00 fee for returned checks will be charged and must be paid before another appointment is made.
Q: What are your grooming hours? Do you have evening or weekend appointments?
A: Grooming hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5pm. At this time we do not normally provide evening and weekend appointments. The only exception to this would be if we have to reschedule your appointment due to weather, mechanical problems or if your groomer is ill, and no other regular appointment time is available.
